  • Overview

    Mid-Columbia Medical Center is hiring for a Patient Access Representative I in our Patient and Visitor Services Department.

     

    This position is Part-time Core and is eligible for benefits or a additional 13% pay differential will be added to the base rate of pay in lieu of benefits.

     

    Responsibilities

    Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for greeting, interviewing, and registering patients; arranges for admission to hospital, obtains and records pertinent identifying information, assembles all admitting paperwork, provides HIPAA information to patients and collects co-pays or deposits.    

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • One year of college coursework including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework is preferred.

    Experience:

    • Six months experience in healthcare experience or equivalent background.
    • Six months customer service experience required.

    Knowledge, skills & abilities:

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in the English language.
    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
    • Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks.
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
    • Ability to communicate in calm, succinct, business-like manner.
    • Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed.
    • Keyboarding of 40 wpm and PC based computer skills.
    • Familiarity with 10 key.
    • Ability to learn health insurance market and available products and functions as a resource to the patient or directs the patient to the appropriate resource along with MCMC financial assistance programs.
