Overview

MCMC's Medical Oncology department is seeking a Registered Nurse.

 

This position part time core (24 hours/week), days, and is open only to current employees of the Medical Oncology / Radiation Oncology / Endoscopy team.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the Department Director or designee as defined by Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse {(ORS. 678.150/851-045-0030 through 851-045-0100) Nurse Practice Act (2008)}.

 

The hospital-assigned Registered Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for MCMC including those for patient assessment and transfer

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

Education:

  • Graduated from accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred, with a minimum of 650 clinical hours required. 
  • Oregon RN License
  • BLS & ACLS required
  • Ability to complete the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course.

 Experience:

  • Six months nursing experience or successful completion of nursing internship program preferred. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized.

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Experience with using every day technology tools (e.g, email, Microsoft Office, voicemail, internet/intranet to access, organize and store job-related information.

  • A thorough understanding and belief in the Planetree philosophy of patient-centered care is essential in order to provide the highest level of personalized care to our patients.
  • Ability to interact positively and communicate efficiently with co-workers, physicians, and patients.

Candidates must demonstrate the core values and Planetree philosophy through interacting with patients, family and friends of patients, and staff in a compassionate, caring way. Applicant must have sharp clinical skills and critical thinking skills. Applicants must have a current Oregon license, ACLS, and be able to complete the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course.
