Mid-Columbia Medical Center (MCMC) is searching for a Full-time Chief Operating Officer. MCMC is a 49-bed comprehensive medical center located along the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in The Dalles, Oregon. MCMC offers a diverse array of care and services and is internationally recognized as one of the leading innovators in patient-centered care. MCMC offers a continuum of services, including education, wellness and prevention programs, outpatient and in-home services. In the ensuing years, MCMC has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind center of healing, addressing a person’s emotional, spiritual, intellectual and environmental concerns in addition to their physical needs


In collaboration with the Executive Management Team, provides strategic and operational leadership across multi-clinical and non-clinical departments. Provides oversight of key strategic initiatives and programs for multiple departments to ensure alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the organization.


Responsible for the administrative oversight over various clinical, ancillary and support departments. Ensures appropriate management and effective operations to assure top-level performance in financial, quality, service, employee engagement and growth of assigned areas.


Promotes, supports and exemplifies a culture with a focus on patient-centered care through application of the Planetree components, and other cultural initiatives that help sustain an engaged workforce.      



Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):



  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare related field. Masters Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred or equivalent in training and experience.


  • Minimum of seven years diverse and progressively more responsible leadership experience in the healthcare environment, preferably in clinical areas. Proven expertise in ability to lead teams and build positive internal and external professional relationships with all levels of staff, physicians, vendors, community members, etc.



  • Self-assured, confident and goal-oriented
  • Established skills in leadership and getting things done through others
  • Strong financial background
  • Experience with using everyday technology tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, word processing, voicemail, internet/intranet) to access, organize and store job related information.
