MCMC's Patient & Visitor Services Department is now looking to fill a Patient Access Representative II position.


This is a full time position and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.



The Central Scheduler is to interview, coordinate and accurately schedule Outpatient diagnostic testing and procedures for a variety of departments. This position will coordinate and document highly accurate patient personal and medical coverage information in the form of admission, pre-registration and registration procedures in the most timely and cost-effective manner. The scheduler will perform revenue enhancement procedures in the form of monetary collections for out of pocket expenses, self pay and /or co-payments for outpatient tests/procedures as well as working in cooperation with our Inpatient specialist. This position may also fill in for Patient Visitor Services Representatives I.



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years college education including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework preferred.


  • Minimum one year experience in healthcare experience or equivalent background preferred.
  • Three years customer service experience required.
  • National Certification of Healthcare Access Association preferred.


Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally, via phone, and in written form. Communication should be clear, concise and accurate, using the appropriate tone and volume.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
  • Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to communicate in calm, succinct, business-like manner. Outward actions must be conducive to serve and treat the patient with respect and care, as well as all contacts in business setting.
  • Development of key contacts with physician office partners to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed.
  • Keyboarding of 40 wpm and PC based computer skills..
  • Maintain computer skill level in accordance with expected turnaround times and expected work outputs as established via policies and procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with eligibility sites, and vendor interfaces and keep passwords protected and up to date for insurance and authorization accuracy
  • Ability to stay apprised of changes in health insurance market and available products and functions as a resource to the patient or directs the patient to the appropriate resource along with MCMC financial assistance programs.
