Overview

Rehabilitation Services is in search of a Physical Therapy Aide. The Aide provides compassionate, quality patient care while aiding patients in their goal of becoming self-sufficient, healthy and strong.  This position will work primarily in the outpatient setting (at Water's Edge) and occasionally in the inpatient setting (at MCMC).

 

This is a part-time core position, 32 hours per week, with option to receive benefits, or a 13% pay differential in lieu of benefits.

Responsibilities

The primary function of the Therapy Aide is to assist the Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist in providing the highest quality of therapy services possible, while providing the patient with a pleasant experience. The Therapy Aide provides treatment to assigned patients under the direction of the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist and as outlined in the patient care plan. The Therapy Aide recognizes that the responsibilities of this job are patient-centered, and with that in mind, he/she will organize, supervise and render the highest quality of care to each patient.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

Education

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Vocational/Technical Degree or in the process of working toward a vocational/technical degree
  • CPR Certification

Experience

  • Minimum one year clinical experience in healthcare-related area.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Able to work with and Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist and PTA/COTA, as well as demonstrate the capacity to work within a team approach to healthcare with maturity and flexibility.
  • Working knowledge of functions, policies, procedures and equipment of the Rehabilitation Services department.
  • Complies with state and federal regulations as they pertain to therapy aide services and supervision by licensed practitioner.

 

Candidate must be a high school graduate and able to quickly and efficiently learn new tasks and procedures. Basic computer skills and excellent customer service are required. Medical Terminology and/or experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred along with completion of 40-hours of Aide training classes with competencies demonstrated in all skill areas. Bi-lingual skills are also preferred.
